When I first found the New Thought (Science of Mind) movement, I had been living the Law of Attraction philosophy for many years, and my life increasingly improved. There was evidence everywhere that my thoughts did indeed become things, and I could create my own reality by simply changing those thoughts from negative to positive. But, as much as the teachings of Abraham-Hicks were the truth for me (and still are), there was still a deeper quality to my path that had not yet materialized. New Thought was the answer to that quest. I finally understood that "God" was not just a word to be avoided due to past experience, but instead was the quality I had been ignoring. I have fallen in love with God and my life is breaking open, releasing all my resistance, and showing me the true meaning of Love as I have never understood it before.
So, on this page will be snippets from my Breaking Open journal, which parallels my path to becoming a Spiritual Prayer Practitioner for the United Centers for Spiritual Living. Nothing has ever felt so right.
Enjoy.
You know what happens when you break anything open? Everything falls out...usually in a huge tumbling mass of chaos, causing confusion and frustration and annoyance. And all you want to do is stuff it back in and pretend you didn't see it. Instead, one needs to begin the job of sorting it out, seeing what you want to keep, what you want to throw away, what you want to bless and let go, what you want to bless and expand. It's a tedious and often seemingly thankless job, andmore than once one says: Why? Just throw it all out and get on with life. That's a choice...but is it an option? (8/16/09)
